Tantrums

Toddler Tantrums

Hello! So this morning, my 4 year old got upset because she couldn’t wear her Easter dress. I kept telling her it was dirty but she got to stomping her foot and yelling at me anyways. She doesn’t seem to care if the dress is dirty or not, plus it really isn’t meant to be worn for everyday stuff. Lol. I am sure that some of you probably have dealt with the same types of things. How do you get them through the tantrum and handle your own emotions at the same time? I know for me, I have to control myself because I was raised with “I’ll give you something to cry about” type of parenting. With my daughter specifically, she is easily distracted. So with that, I just let her know that she was going to the library today with Kid Camp (their daycare) and her mood changed drastically. I picked some clothes that I thought she would be okay with and we had a winner. She is fascinated with dresses and skirts but knows that she has to wear shorts under them. Therefore, I picked a jean skirt that has the shorts made in them already and shirt that is more dressy type of shirt but she has wanted to wear it multiple times lately. She is actually getting ready to outgrow the shirt she wore today. Either way, with letting her know that she was going to the library today, she didn’t worry about her clothes anymore. This allowed me to finish getting her ready in the morning and then also my 6 year old.
